More on Gori Gesha 1931:
The Gesha 1931 coffee varietal traces its origins to the Gori Gesha forest in southwestern Ethiopia, near Mount Gesha and the village of Gesha. This heirloom Arabica variety was first documented in 1931 when British officials collected seeds from wild coffee plants in the region for agricultural research. These seeds later traveled through East African research stations before reaching Panama in the 1960s, where the variety gained global fame as "Geisha" (or Gesha).
The 1931 designation references both the year of initial documentation and the estate's commitment to preserving this coffee's Ethiopian heritage through careful selection of plants that maintain genetic ties to the original wild specimens. Unlike its Panamanian descendants, Gesha 1931 showcases a unique balance of floral aromatics and stone fruit flavors with a light, honey-like sweetness to boot, shaped by its native terroir.
